An “One Day Seminar on GIT & Open-Source Technology” was organized by Department of Computer Science and Computer Applications on 24th February 2023, Friday for BCA and B.Sc. (Computer Science) – I, II and III Year and MCA-I Year Students. The Seminar was convened by Dr. Jitendra Choudhary, HoD, Computer Science and was coordinated by Dr. Arpit Neema, Assistant Professor, Department of Computer Science respectively. The aim of this seminar was to make students acquainted with the latest trend and technology of GIT & Open Source, importance of these technologies in the Placements and the preparations needed for Industry. The Seminar was in two sessions, In the First session, Technical Consultant Ms. Priya Sharma gave a brief insight about Hotwax Systems, its working policies, its business ethics etc. and Open-Source Technology and software. In the second session, Software Engineer Ms. Janvi Talreja has given ample knowledge on GIT along with practical hands on it to give broad knowledge about the content.
This really motivated the students for knowing the right way of learning GIT & Open-Source Technology. Students were motivated by their achievements. Both speakers focused on participation in different types of Tech-Fests and Hackathons organized by Google, Facebook, different Tech Communities, various software firms, Universities and even by Hotwax Systems. According to them, it is the best practice to Contribute Codes in the Open-Source Environment. Not only Codes, but also documents, asking various types of questions is also a sort of contribution that can be given by anyone on the internet. To sum it up, it was a very good and motivational seminar which will go a long way in helping the students in preparing for technical competitions in the future based on these technologies. The students participated with great enthusiasm.
