RAWE Orientation of students with farmers

The Rural Agricultural Work Experience (RAWE) program for B.Sc. (Hons.) Agriculture students was officially launched on August 31, 2024, in the village of Panda, Tehsil Mah. These students, who are in their fourth year at the Faculty of Agriculture, Medicaps University, Rau, will spend the next four months working closely with local farmers, gaining hands-on experience in farming practices. During this period, they will share their acquired knowledge with the farmers.

Additionally, each student will develop a project aimed at reducing farming costs by 20% and increasing production by 20%, ultimately enhancing farmers' incomes by at least 40%. The inauguration took place at the Dharamshala in Panda village, with a simple yet meaningful ceremony. Dr. D.K. Patnaik, Vice Chancellor of Medicaps University, was the chief guest. In his speech, he encouraged farmers to adopt the latest farming techniques and take advantage of the research conducted by scientists, promising full support from Medicaps University in this endeavor. Citing lines from the university's anthem, Dr. Patnaik reaffirmed his commitment to advancing society with dignity.

He also emphasized the value of practical knowledge through an illustrative story. The Sarpanch of Panda village, Smt. Sanjubai, expressed her gratitude for choosing Panda as the program's location and assured the full cooperation of both herself and the farmers. Dr. S. D. Upadhyay, Dean of Medicaps University, discussed various strategies for increasing farmers' incomes and highlighted the university's dedication to providing quality education in agriculture, in line with the new National Education Policy. He mentioned that the students' experiences in rural agriculture would help inform the government about innovative agricultural practices and future opportunities.
