Looking to the scenario in Madhya Pradesh, there are only 12 Private Universities as on today. The population of the passing out students at secondary level is increasing every year. Therefore, the present number of State Universities is not able to cope with the demand of the University education by the young students. Even if the Government decides to open the new Universities, the financial burden goes beyond the controllable state. Hence the State of Madhya Pradesh, under the Act, called “Madhya Pradesh Niji Vishwavidyalaya (Sathapana Avam Sanchalan) Adhiniyam, 2007 allowed the Trusts / Societies to open the Private Universities to impart the quality education to the youth of this country.
A University has diverse responsibilities like maintaining requisite standards of professional excellence by giving admissions, based on merit and making it equally accessible to eligible students through a fair and transparent admission procedure. This is an obligatory service that can be achieved only with greater autonomy of admission, infrastructure, investments, fee and salaries being devised by “unaided” professional institutions. Mere expansion is of little use, without efforts to improve quality to reach the standards of excellence.
Keeping this in mind the trustees of Medi-Caps Charitable Trust established a Private University at Indore, known as Medi-Caps University in order to serve the need of the hour.
